Time: 0700
Location: CCRB
Guest Speaker - Kenneth Happel
KOD - Dave Wainwright

The current water crisis in California is not an act of God. It is the result of environmental activists empowered by the Endangered Species Act and lawyers paid up to $690 and hour by the federal government to sue the federal government. Following a plan that has been carried out in three states, all the sources of San Diego County’s drinking water have been declared critical habitats for endangered salmonid fish species. This requires that all our rivers and streams become free flowing and restored to a condition that will allow salmonids to have their yearly runs. Practically, in three states, this has meant that reservoirs must use their water first to preserve river flow and then may allocate water that is left to drinking water and agriculture.

About the Speaker:
Kenneth Happel has been a public speaker at conventions, symposia, and review boards. He has a unique view world business and defense intelligence and specializes in sharing techniques to discover “what is so” about current issues.

Program: The San Diego Food Bank
Time: 0700
Location: CCRB
Guest Speaker - Scody Hage CEO
KOD - Debbie Hartman

The San Diego Food Bank was founded in 1977 and is currently located at 9850 Distribution Avenue in the Miramar area just off Miramar & Carroll Roads. Today the food from our warehouse is serving over 304,000 people in San Diego County who have been challenged by the current economic crisis in our communities of San Diego County. They receive this food through more than 400 charitable organizations in San Diego that distribute our food to those in need at no expense to the end consumer. The number of people receiving our food this year is an increase of approximately 52% over the number fed the year earlier, of which were about 200,000 per month. Last year, total distribution of food was 11.8 million pounds of food which is the equivalent of approximately 875,000 meals. This was an increase of approximately 41% over the previous year of approximately 9.1 million pounds. Last year, our professional staff averaged a total of 28 people.

We do this through financial support and in-kind food donations from the community, as well as a tremendous amount of volunteer help. Last year alone, we had 14,000 volunteers come through our warehouse, donating approximately 54,000 hours of service.
